hello loves <3
It’s been about a month since I signed off from substack for my break, and I really have missed writing to you every week. I had the idea to pop back into your inbox around the equinox. However, I have an equinox-inspired virtual workshop next week that I wanted to share with you in case you are interested in joining me! More information below.
P.S. While I am on a hiatus from this publication, you can still subscribe to receive my occasional notes and access the archives!
Let the seasons support the uncertainty
Astrologically speaking, we are between two eclipses. “The veil is thin,” as astrologers love to say about this time. But I do find that it feels particularly true right now. The frequency is different, the vibes are honestly weird, and big shifts are (still) looming.
In my own practice, I have found that returning to the constancy of the seasons around us has provided me a lot of comfort. As I have mentioned recently, here in the northern hemisphere, we are drifting through the final days of late summer and preparing for the early days of autumn. If you are feeling particularly overwhelmed by things in your life or the world around you, try to simply tune into the state of the seasons —letting them whisper words of encouragement or wisdom that you may be needing.

Preparing for a season of shedding…
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), late summer is energetically connected to digestion and processing experiences. Alchemizing nutrients, taking in what we need, nourishing the body, and then preparing to release what we don’t need.
If we don’t properly nourish ourselves, we won’t have sustenance for winter. And if we don’t properly purge what is excess, we will be left feeling clogged, cluttered, and bloated (mentally and physically).
From late summer, we move to autumn, the season of the lungs and large intestine. Organs that release, exhale, and expire. These organs assist in moving out toxins, stagnancy, and unused nutrients in the body. This is a critical time for us to shed what once served us to make room for deep meditation, contemplation, and the rest of winter.
In our Western culture, we tend to prioritize the waxing phases of life. Growing! Manifesting! Achieving! We forget that the waning cycle of shedding, releasing, composting, and dying off is what helps us integrate and open space for new seeds to be planted. It is often quite uncomfortable for us to contemplate, let alone communicate, what we need to let go of or what needs to be shed. It feels antithetical to our society’s need for more, more, more.
So as we approach the equinox of equal day and night (Sept. 22nd!) — I invite you to contemplate what you are shedding in this season of life. Maybe it’s a job, an identity, a habit, or a relationship. Whatever it may be, remember that what we let go of is not gone forever. The magic of what we release gets composted into the soil of our being to fertilize the seeds of our next great adventure.
If you would like to join me in community for a guided yin sequence and community conversation on the Practice of Letting Go, I would love to have you in my upcoming workshop hosted by
of .This 90-minute workshop is an embodied meditation on the seasonal shift into autumn and the energetics of letting go. Created by astrologer, yin yoga teacher, and seasonal guide Anna Hull, this session is designed to help you descend into the fall season with greater ease and compassion.
We'll begin with a 60-minute yin yoga practice focused on the lungs and large intestine meridians, the metal element, and moving grief through the body—all key themes associated with autumn.
After practice, we’ll come together to journal and share reflections in an open conversation, creating space to name what we’re releasing and set grounded intentions for the season ahead.
This class will take place over Zoom. All participants will receive a Zoom link within 72 hours of the class.
Registrants will have access to the recording for 30 days after the class date.
And if you would like to practice with me in community more regularly, please consider joining our virtual Sacred Sunday gathering. Via zoom every Sunday morning, I host a small group of people to stretch, meditate, and contemplate on the week ahead. Learn more here.
Until next time, keep spiraling ꩜ ♡
