Letting Go When Things are Good (Virgo New Moon)
permission to change and a season of alchemy // august 17 - 23
I have been meditating a lot this week on the idea of leaving or letting go of something, even when it looks good from the outside.
Making a change that serves your soul rather than your ego.
I talk to a lot of clients about this transition as they leave a job that looks good on paper but that doesn’t fulfill their heart. I am observing people in my own life, letting go when things are good, as a way of staying in alignment with personal integrity beyond societal expectations.
I often end my yoga classes by saying, “Notice what has changed and what has stayed the same.” We pause for a few moments, scanning the body and mind and observing any changes. In the last few weeks, I have been feeling some changes in myself. I’ve been feeling a desire to reshape my work to create more space for who I am becoming as a person and practitioner. I hold such deep gratitude and reverence towards my journey so far and want to continue honoring my path, even as it twists and turns in unexpected directions.
All of this is just my long-winded way of saying that I am going to take a small Substack break while I reimagine how I want to show up for my writing practice and what wisdom I want to share with you all. To be honest, I write so much outside of this newsletter that keeping up with a weekly timeline isn’t giving me enough space to contemplate what I really want to say. I want this space to be a sacred place for insightful exploration, curiosity, and reflection. I will likely be shifting my focus away from astrology and more towards spirituality, natural seasons, and my lived experience. My relationship with astrology is changing. While it still inspires me greatly, it is becoming more of an additional tool to alchemize information rather than the primary lens I see the world through.
I am giving permission for things to change…or stay the same. And in that, I am giving myself permission to change right in front of you, as awkward and clunky as it might be.
There are so many beautiful ideas lurking around the corner that are whispering for my attention. So as I take this short break to reimagine and create space for new ideas, I want to thank you for being here, supporting my journey, and listening to what I have to share.
I didn’t expect to make this change so suddenly, but I often have a hard time diving in headfirst, so here we are. It feels kismet in a way. My 29th birthday is this week, we have the first of two new moons in Virgo this week, and we begin the great alchemical Virgo season at the end of this week as well. On a personal level, this is a week calling for a new beginning.
Since this is the last week of this format, I will be opening up the full post to all of my readers. Paid subscriptions will be paused for the time being as I swim towards what is next.
While I am away, please feel free to sift through my archive of weekly musings. If you really miss me, this is a great time to join our weekly virtual practice + gathering.
I lead a short movement practice followed by a guided community conversation. It is a beautiful and nurturing space that I cherish deeply and would love to have you join in.

Saturday: New Moon in Virgo ♍️ 🌑
This week we find ourselves waning down to the new moon in Virgo. A quieting down, distilling of ideas, and simplifying of our energy. If you have been giving a lot to others or finding yourself busy in the late summer rush of activities, use this week to wind down a bit and return to yourself. The new moon in Virgo occurs on August 23 at 2:07am EDT. Our collective themes for this moon are simplicity, alignment, and mindfulness. This is a great place to open a fresh page of your journal or find ways to simplify your life.
From the luminary journal: “This clarifying new moon offers you a chance to return to the basics. It’s a time to turn routines into rituals and cultivate space for mindfulness in your day-to-day.”
As I mentioned in my personal note above, this week feels like a natural time for me to clarify and simplify my own practice by taking an intentional break and restarting from a clear space. How might you invoke this in your own life?
Other Astro Happenings:

Miraculously, there are no significant astro transits that stand out to me this week. Focus on the energy of the new moon and what feels ready to be let go of so that you can move from a clearer, more intentional space.
Because there will be no monthly deep dive into Virgo season, I will direct you back to last year’s beautiful meditation on Virgo season.
Welcome to ❊ VIRGO SEASON
I’m feeling the brightness and heat of this summer more than ever before. As a Leo summer girlie, I usually love this time of year, but this round I struggled. I couldn’t quite get my footing and felt the time passing in strange ways. When I look back over the last two summer months, I wish I could have been more productive (that’s the virgo in me I sup…
New Moon Reflection:
1/ What activities bring me back to a sense of peace and inner calm?
2/ Where can I simplify?
Comments are open for anyone this week. If anything from this week resonates with you, leave me a little note or <3 and I look forward to popping back into your inbox again soon
Until next time xx
I resonate so deeply Anna and have been on a similar journey as well!
